David and Nan Powlison are our “advance team” at Virginia Beach in preparation for our National Conference beginning Thursday. Here is the first of several on-the-scene reflections he’ll be writing for us from that lovely corner of God’s creation:

This morning we drove a few blocks north of the boardwalk and hotels area (which ends around 41st St.). There is lovely beach access through quiet residential neighborhoods up at this end of town. We parked at 47th, and took a leisurely walk up the wide beach. Surf is breaking three feet, with a brisk offshore wind. Morning sun was glittering on the ocean. A flock of sandpipers did their comic speedwalk in the shore wash. Our highlight: a pod of a dozen dolphins were circling and jumping just off-shore.
