Edward Fudge is the father of the modern CI Movement. His book is 442 pages long and includes a very in-depth treatment of Conditional Immortality. Several chapters (mainly 3 to 5) in his book focus on his view of physicalism. He never uses that term, but that is what he teaches.
This appendix is not meant to perform exegesis on every verse. Here is what we have done. First, we developed a list of Bible verses that Christian dualists often use in support of dualism and verses that Fudge uses in support of physicalism.
Next, we researched those Bible verses in his book to see which he exegeted, which he just listed, and those that he never discussed at all. Because it is important to read Bible verses in context, we have listed the Bible verse before and after the quoted verse.
The first table are those verses that he discussed or explained (though some of these are just him stating something and listing some verses without any exegesis). There are 22 verses in this table. The second table includes those that are listed somewhere in the text but do not make any attempt to understand the verse through any exegesis. There are a total of 4 verses here. The last table includes verses that are not found or listed anywhere in his large text. There are 48 verses listed in that table.
The first table of 22 verses really only has a handful that have any significant exegesis. Fudge assumes the others are in agreement with his understanding of their meaning, but gives little if any exegesis.
Technically, tables 2 and 3 both refer to verses that Fudge completely ignored when trying to teach his understanding of physicalism (Table 2 verses are listed in his text with absolutely no exegesis. Table 3 includes 48 verses that are not even listed).

| Psalm 16:10 | 9: Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10: For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11: You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. |
| Psalm 31:5 | 4: Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength. 5: Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. 6: I have hated those who regard useless idols; But I trust in the LORD. |
| Ecclesiastes 3:21 | 20: All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust. 21: Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? 22: So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him? |
| Ecclesiastes 12:7 | 6: Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well. 7: Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it. 8: “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “All is vanity.” |
| Ezekiel 18:4 | 3: “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel. 4: “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.” 5: But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right; |
| Matthew 10:28 | 27: “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28: And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29: Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. |
| Luke 12:4-5 | 3: Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. 4: “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5: But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! 6: Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. |
| Luke 16:19-31 | 18: “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery. 19: “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20: But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21: desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22: So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23: And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24: “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25: But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26: And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ 27: “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28: for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29: Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30: And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31: But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’” Chapter 17, 1: Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! |
| Luke 23:46 | 45: then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46: And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last. 47: So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!” |
| John 19:30 | 29: Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30: So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. 31: Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. |
| Acts 2:27 | 26: Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. 27: For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 28: You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’ |
| Acts 2:31 | 30: Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31: he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32: This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. |
| Acts 7:59 | 58: and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59: And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60: Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. |
| 1 Corinthians 15:35-49 | 34: Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 35: But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” 36: Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37: And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain. 38: But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body. 39: All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40: There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41: There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. 42: So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43: It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44: It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45: And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46: However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47: The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48: As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49: And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. 50: Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. |
| Philippians 1:21-24 | 20: according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21: For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22: But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23: For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24: Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 25: And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, |
| 1 Thessalonians 5:23 | 22: Abstain from every form of evil. 23: Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24: He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. |
| Hebrews 4:12 | 11: Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13: And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. |
| 1 Peter 1:9 | 8: whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9: receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 10: Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, |
| 1 Peter 4:19 | 18: Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 19: Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. Chapter 5, 1: The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: |
| Revelation 6:9-11 | 8: So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. 9: When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11: Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed. 12: I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. |
| Revelation 20:4 | 3: and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. 4: And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5: But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. |
Many of the verses above do not provide an exegetical explanation of how the verse applies to a physicalist viewpoint. Some are used to support the CI viewpoint but not the physicalist viewpoint. Those listed below in the 2nd table do not attempt any exegesis.

And not one of them is forgotten before God. |
| Mark 8:36-37 | 35: For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36: For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37: Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38: For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” |
| 1 Corinthians 2:11 | 10: But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11: For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12: Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. |
The last table, which includes 48 Bible verses, is by far the largest. Some critical verses in this section give strong support to a dualistic view of human nature, yet are completely ignored and overlooked by Fudge.
While it is possible to agree with Edwards’ interpretation of many verses dealing with conditional immortality, the fact that he did not attempt to deal with so many important dualist Bible verses calls into question his teaching on physicalism.
Sadly, thousands of his followers have never realized how biased and poorly he handled his physicalist teaching in his book.

| Genesis 35:18 | 17: Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; you will have this son also.” 18: And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni; but his father called him Benjamin. 19: So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). |

And he said, “Please conduct a seance for me, and bring up for me the one I shall name to you.” 9: Then the woman said to him, “Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the spiritists from the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?” 10: And Saul swore to her by the LORD, saying, “As the LORD lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.” 11: Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” 12: When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!” 13: And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What did you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth.” 14: So he said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle.” And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. 15: Now Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.” 16: Then Samuel said: “So why do you ask me, seeing the LORD has departed from you and has become your enemy? |

| Psalm 44:25 | 24: Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression? 25: For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground. 26: Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake. |
| Psalm 63:1 | Title: A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah. 1: O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. 2: So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. |
| Psalm 139:14 | 13: For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14: I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15: My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. |
| Proverbs 20:27 | 26: A wise king sifts out the wicked, And brings the threshing wheel over them. 27: The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. 28: Mercy and truth preserve the king, And by lovingkindness he upholds his throne. |

| Isaiah 31:3 | 2: Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, And will not call back His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers, And against the help of those who work iniquity. 3: Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, Both he who helps will fall, And he who is helped will fall down; They all will perish together. 4: For thus the LORD has spoken to me: “As a lion roars, And a young lion over his prey (When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice Nor be disturbed by their noise), So the LORD of hosts will come down To fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. |
| Ezekiel 37:5-6 | 4: Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5: Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6: I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.” ’ ” 7: So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. |

Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: 2: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. |
| Matthew 26:38 | 37: And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38: Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. | Matthew 26:41 | 40: Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41: Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42: Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” |

| Luke 1:46-47 | 45: Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” 46: And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47: And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48: For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. |
| Luke 8:55 | 54: But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55: Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56: And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened. |
| Luke 12:19-20 | 18: So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19: And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ 20: But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ 21: “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” |
| Luke 23:43 | 42: Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” 43: And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” 44: Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. |
| Luke 24:39 | 38: And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39: Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” 40: When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. |
| John 3:6 | 5: Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6: That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7: Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ |
| John 12:27 | 26: If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. 27: “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28: Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.” |
| Romans 8:10 | 9: But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10: And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11: But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. |
| Romans 8:16 | 15: For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17: and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. |
| 1 Corinthians 5:3-5 | 2: And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3: For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4: In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5: deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6: Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? |
| 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 | 18: Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20: For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. Chapter 7, 1: Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. |
| 1 Corinthians 7:34 | 33: but he who is married cares about the things of the world—how he may please his wife. 34: There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband. 35: And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction. |
| 2 Corinthians 4:16 | 15: For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 16: Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, |
| 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 | Chapter 4, 18: while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 1: For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2: For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3: if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4: For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5: Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6: So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7: For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8: We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 9: Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. |
| 2 Corinthians 7:1 | Chapter 6, 18: “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.” 1: Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2: Open your hearts to us. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have cheated no one. |
| Ephesians 3:16 | 15: from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16: that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17: that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, |
| Philippians 1:27 | 26: that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. 27: Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28: and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. |
| Colossians 2:5 | 4: Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 5: For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. 6: As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, |
| 2 Timothy 4:6 | 5: But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 6: For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. |
| 2 Timothy 4:22 | 21: Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as well as Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren. 22: The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. [End of Epistle] |
| Hebrews 12:23 | 22: But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23: to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24: to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. |
| James 2:26 | 25: Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Chapter 3, 1: My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. |
| 1 Peter 2:11 | 10: who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 11: Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12: having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. |
| 1 Peter 3:18-20 | 17: For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19: by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20: who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21: There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, |
| 1 Peter 4:6 | 5: They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6: For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7: But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. |
| 2 Peter 1:13-14 | 12: For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13: Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14: knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15: Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. |
| 1 John 3:2 | 1: Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2: Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3: And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. |
| 1 John 3:20 | 19: And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20: For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21: Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. |
